Nigeria will soon overcome current travails, says Bajowa | The Guardian Nigeria News - Nigeria and World News

• Demands Devolution Of Power, Prudence In GovernanceA retired Nigerian Army General, Olu Bajowa has enjoined Nigerians not to give up on the travails confronting the country, assuring that the country will soon overcome her challenges. He, however, bemoaned the high cost of governance, as Nigeria operates the most expensive presidential system of government globally, adding that the system is not healthy for the true practice of modern democracy. Bajowa, who spoke with The Guardian on Friday, in commemoration of his 79th birthday ceremony, said the current socio-economic and political problems will soon become things of the past. Bajowa, who was a Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence and Jagunmolu of Ikaleland noted that the problems have made Nigeria to lag behind other independent nations like Malaysia. “As at now, Nigeria operates the most powerful and expensive presidency in the world,” he said, explaining that the American presidency, which was emulated, “is a lion in a cage, but that the “Nigerian presidency is a lion outside the cage.”
